Dome skylights for flat roofs

Glass roof domes are the perfect addition to your flat roof. Toughened Glass offers a number of roof domes for flat roofs that are fitted on a builders upstand, or curb, as standard.

This method of installation prevents the rooflight from coming into direct contact with your roof by providing an upstand of at least 150mm that is drilled into the roof, allowing the glass to be fitted independently of the roof itself. This method of installation also ensures that your new unit is fully weatherproof and waterproof.

In addition to these dome skylights, we also sell:

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a dome rooflight and a flat rooflight?

A dome rooflight uses a curved polycarbonate cover, while a flat rooflight uses a single pane of flat glass. Domes tend to cost less and offer strong impact resistance, while flat glass gives better optical clarity. Our Flat Rooflight and Triple-Glazed Self-Clean Rooflight cover the flat glass side, and our flat roof skylights range and complete buying guide go into more depth on that comparison.

Mardome or Coxdome: which dome brand should I choose?

Both are well-established polycarbonate dome brands with similar core specifications. Browse our Mardome Rooflights range and Coxdome Rooflights range side by side to compare sizes, skin count, and pricing on the specific unit you need.

Are dome rooflights fixed, or can they open?

Both options are available. Fixed units skip the cost of opening hardware and are the more affordable route; browse our fixed rooflights range for those. If ventilation is the priority, our Electric & Manual Opening Rooflights, wider opening rooflights range, and dedicated ventilated rooflights range cover units built specifically for airflow.

Are dome rooflights suitable for a kitchen or bathroom?

Yes, they’re a popular choice for both, particularly where budget matters more than premium optical clarity. See our kitchen skylights and bathroom skylights ranges for room-specific guidance and options.

Can dome rooflights be used on a listed building or in a conservation area?

Not usually as the first choice. A raised dome profile is less likely to suit a conservation area’s planning requirements than a lower, flatter unit. Our conservation rooflights range covers products designed with that context in mind.

Can I replace just the glazing on an existing dome without a new frame?

Yes. Several of our dome-only units are designed as a straight glazing replacement for an existing frame and upstand. Browse our frameless skylights range alongside the dome-only products listed above for refurbishment projects.

What's the difference between a dome rooflight and a roof lantern?

A dome rooflight uses a curved polycarbonate cover close to the roofline, while a roof lantern is a raised, multi-paned glass structure with a pitched profile. Our rooflights vs roof lanterns comparison and roof lanterns guide cover lanterns in more depth, and our roof lanterns range has the full selection.

Do you stock named-brand flat glass options too, not just domes?

Yes. The Korniche Flat Lite is our named-brand flat glass option, and the Korniche Roof Lantern covers the raised, feature end of the range if a dome isn’t the look you’re after.

Do you sell other shapes or roof types beyond a standard dome?

Yes. Our Circular Rooflights and pyramid skylights range offer alternative architectural shapes, our wider polycarbonate rooflights range covers other profiles beyond the curved dome shown here, and if your roof is genuinely pitched rather than flat, our pitched roof skylight windows range is the better fit.

What's the difference between a rooflight, a skylight, and a roof window?

In everyday UK usage the terms are largely interchangeable. Our guide on the difference between skylights, rooflights and roof windows covers the distinctions in full.

Where can I see your full range of rooflights and skylights?

Browse our complete rooflights, skylights and roof windows range to see every category we stock beyond dome options.
