What’s the difference between a pitched roof window and a rooflight?

While the terms are often used interchangeably, you’re generally able to open roof windows, whereas this isn’t always the case with rooflights for pitched roofs. Two of our pitched roof windows can be opened, giving ventilation benefits.

What is a pitched roof?

A pitched roof is a roof that slopes downwards at an angle from a central ridge. They generally have two sides, forming a triangle or inverted ‘V’ shape. However, this isn’t always the case, and you’ll find pitched roofs with both less and more than two sides. In the UK, roofs that have a pitch of 15° or more are generally considered pitched.

Whether your roof is single-pitched, double-pitched, or more, you’ll find a quality pitched roof window for your home or office at Toughened Glass Systems.
