What is an access hatch rooflight?

Access hatch rooflights consist of a frame with a polycarbonate glazed panel that can be opened and closed, providing natural light and access to the roof space. They’re typically installed on flat or low-pitched roofs.

Access hatch rooflights are strong and durable, and can often support the weight of a person walking on them. They’re great at providing safe and convenient access to roof spaces for maintenance or repairs.

Our polycarbonate Mardome Trade Access Hatch rooflights are available in sizes from 900x750mm up to 1800x900mm, and are accompanied by a choice of glazing and finish types.

This product is primarily used as an Access Hatch providing safe and easy access to roof spaces for purposes such as maintenance, decoration or storage and when open the gas struts support the dome unit.

How do you fit a roof access hatch?

The unit can be fitted directly on top of the roof deck via the PVC upstand (150mm/300mm high) which is supplied with the product. A 70° to 83° opening can be achieved on the Mardome Trade Access Hatch Rooflight due to the gas springs and hinged dome unit incorporated in the internal opening mechanism.

If you buy a 900mm by 900mm from our website drop down menu your structural opening would need to be 900mm by 900mm. As an example, the structural opening hole size that needs to be cut for this rooflight is the size of the rooflight you purchase from the drop-down menu.

If you purchased a 900mm by 900mm Access Hatch Rooflight from our website WITHOUT AN UPSTAND and fit it on your Own/Builders Upstand then your external upstand size would need to be 900mm by 900mm, upstand width 75mm wide and 150mm high.

Opal – diffused light and solar control, a unique combination of high levels of diffused light transmission and privacy, ultimate prevention of solar glare and mass reduction of solar heat gain, reduced visual capacity by impairing vision through the dome of sights and objects.

Patterned – privacy, marries privacy with high levels of light processing, less significant daylight, repels sights of views and objects through the dome.
