Measuring & Installation Guide

Toughened Glass Systems’ innovative framed rooflight is designed for effortless installation and a seamless experience for both customers and installers.

To ensure the perfect fit, you’ll need to provide the external kerb-to-kerb measurement. The size you order must match the external kerb-to-kerb measurement, including any finished roofing materials.

Example: If you’re ordering a 1000mm x 1000mm rooflight, the external kerb-to-kerb measurement, including the finished roofing material, should also be 1000mm x 1000mm.

We recommend an upstand width of 80mm and a height of 150mm. If your upstand exceeds 80mm, it may be visible from a top-down view through the glass. While most customers find this acceptable, we can provide custom sizes if a flush, seamless look is required.

Our aluminium frame features an integrated thermal break, forming a highly effective insulated barrier. This design reduces heat and cold transfer, minimizes condensation, and boosts energy efficiency, creating a more comfortable and cost-efficient living environment.

Our double-glazed glass boasts a centre pane U-value of 1.2, while the triple-glazed option achieves an outstanding U-value of 0.7—offering 30% greater efficiency than standard double glazing. This advanced construction also enhances sound insulation, creating a quieter and more comfortable space.

Each unit is filled with Argon gas and features Thermal Super Spacer technology for superior performance. You can choose from clear, solar, or privacy glass for the outer panel to suit your specific needs.

Suitable for Maximum pitch installation 45 degrees. Maximum external kerb size 1500 by 3000.

Warranty

The rooflight is supplied with a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty.

Delivery

First 10 sizes listed on the product page for CLEAR LOW-E GLASS (1.2 U-value) in double or triple glazing, with or without self clean glass  can be delivered within 2-5 working days. As all rooflights are made to order, bespoke sizes, custom glazing options have a lead time of 5-10 working days.

Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation text with the scheduled delivery date. For deliveries scheduled over two days, this will also be communicated.

We kindly request that on-site labour be available to sign for the goods and assist with unloading from the vehicle. Deliveries occur throughout the day, and the driver will not bring items inside the property, as they are not insured for this.

Please schedule any equipment setup or installation after receiving the rooflight. Standard delivery to most locations is £50.

Customers have the option to collect their rooflight directly from the factory once the order is ready. For more details, please contact our team.

Please note that failed deliveries will incur a re-delivery fee of £150 for most areas, and £250 for the specified postcode areas. To avoid these charges, cancellations or changes must be made at least two working days before the scheduled delivery.

For safe unloading upon delivery, customers are responsible for providing manual labour. We recommend one person for every 25kg of rooflight weight. If you plan to use a forklift, please inform us when placing your order so we can deliver the rooflight on a dedicated stillage. This service incurs an additional fee of £50 + VAT.

Our Fixed Framed Rooflight is a durable system designed to deliver a sleek, modern aesthetic that will brighten any room. The high-quality glass not only enhances the visual appeal of your property but also offers peace of mind, as it has undergone long-term testing to ensure lasting performance.

How Much Glass is Visible?

The rooflight is installed onto a builder’s upstand, which is a timber frame placed on top of the roof for the rooflight installation. Our innovative framed rooflight is based on the external measurements, meaning the visible glass size inside will depend on the size of the upstand created by the installer. We recommend an upstand width of 80mm, which results in the visible glass being 160mm smaller than the external dimensions. For example, a 1000mm x 1000mm rooflight will have a visible glass size of 840mm x 840mm. Please refer to the fitting guide for more details.

Does My Property Need Tinted Glass?

Choosing tinted glass is largely a matter of personal preference and practical consideration. If the rooflight is installed in a room that already receives a lot of natural light, you may want to opt for tinted glass to reduce glare and minimize heat buildup.

Can This Rooflight Be Used Commercially?

Yes, our Rooflight & Roof Lanterns Framed Rooflight is suitable for commercial properties. However, we recommend that you consult the project specification and have a responsible individual sign off on the product for commercial use.
